Light Tactical Fixed-Wing (LTFW) Survey Course™
A five-day course covering all aspects of tactical and administrative Landing Zone (LZ) & LTFW surveying, assessment and site selection, including overview of Engineering Technical Letters (ETLs) 04-7 and 02-19 for LZ’s and a review of AFI 13-217 (AFSOC Supplement) for LTFW criteria, as well as, Safety of Flight (SoF) procedures, and survey package submission to the final approving authority. Surveyors will understand how to implement the ‘highest’ level of safety standards when evaluating any and all vertical obstructions and calculating height above runway cross-sections, longitudinal and transverse gradient analysis, and Glide Sope Ratio (GSR) determination(s). Note: Course instruction also includes an introduction to SPACI analysis and surface distress reporting for all potential movement areas.
