Desert Landing Site (DLS) Survey Course™

A five-day course covering semi-prepared and tactical Desert Landing Site (DLS) surveying, imagery analysis & site selection, as well as, service life maintenance & weather condition impacts during operations; including an overview of Engineering Technical Letters (ETLs) 97-9, 04-7 and 02-19, and a review of AFI 13-217 (AFSOC Supplement). Surveyors will understand how to implement the ‘highest’ level of safety standards when evaluating any and all vertical obstructions and calculating height above runway cross-sections, longitudinal and transverse gradient analysis, Glide Slope Ratio (GSR) and Displaced Threshold determination(s). Note: Course instruction includes measurement and reporting techniques for Ruts, Rolling Resistance Material/ Rolling Friction Factor, and Runway Condition Ratings for SPACI analysis and surface distress reporting for all potential movement areas.

A five-day course covering all aspects of tactical and administrative Landing Zone (LZ) surveying, assessment and site selection, including overview of Engineering Technical Letters (ETLs) 04-7 and 02-19 for LZ’s and a review of AFI 13-217 (AFSOC Supplement), as well as, Safety of Flight (SoF) procedures, and survey package submission to the final approving authority. Surveyors will understand how to implement the ‘highest’ level of safety standards when evaluating any and all vertical obstructions and calculating height above runway cross-sections, longitudinal and transverse gradient analysis, and Glide Slope Ratio (GSR) determination(s).  Note: Course instruction also includes an introduction to SPACI analysis and surface distress reporting for all potential movement areas.

Light Tactical Fixed-Wing (LTFW) Survey Course™

A five-day course covering all aspects of tactical and administrative Landing Zone (LZ) & LTFW surveying, assessment and site selection, including overview of Engineering Technical Letters (ETLs) 04-7 and 02-19 for LZ’s and a review of AFI 13-217 (AFSOC Supplement) for LTFW criteria, as well as, Safety of Flight (SoF) procedures, and survey package submission to the final approving authority.
